Loops are vehicle sensors in the ground. Safety loops prevent gates from closing on vehicles and are strongly recommended for gates that will close automatically. Exit loops can be installed to open gates when a vehicle is present and are usually installed on the inside of gated properties. Loop detectors are required to control the loops and usually offer changeable frequency and sensitivity settings. In some cases loops can share a detector. Ask your Douglas Automatics representative for more information. In the picture below there is a safety loop on either side of the gate and an exit loop set further back. This application would require two detectors.

If you are putting in a new asphalt or concrete drive we can pre-install the loops before the drive is poured so that the loops are hidden. If you have an existing drive we can cut the loops into the asphalt or concrete and still provide a clean finish. We can also install loops in gravel or road base type driveways. Loops are not required in "click to close" applications. In this application the gate will not automatically close but rather you would use your remote or keypad once to open the gate and then again to close it.
